Not long ago, indie filmmakers lusted for an inexpensive, shallow depth-of-field solution. Now, this dream is a widespread, low-cost tool. High-speed photography is sure to take the same course. The Sony FS700 may just do for high-speed what the Canon 5DmkII did for shallow depth-of-field. At the very least. it has opened the door to inexpensive high-speed image capture. See our first test:
On the 4th of July. we set off some fireworks in the alley. We brought the new Sony FS700 along and shot some footage at a variety of frame rates (240fps and 480fps). You can see that the 480fps at 720 struggled a little with lines and did have some moire issues.
