Magnanimous Media hosted our 2014 Open House in early December, welcoming in the new year as well as some some great new services. The open house had a great turnout, focusing on celebrating the film industry and affordable creativity! Magnanimous Media set up the event for filmmakers in the Chicagoland area to network with local vendors, discuss the ins and outs of state-of-the-art equipment, drink amazing brews, and eat even better tacos.

Magnanimous Media set up a film noir scene in Studio One for filmmakers to test out the C500 (PL), RED Epic Dragon, and the Sony F55. Magnanimous Media’s in-house director of photography Jonah Rubash was in the studio to answer questions and give industry knowledge on the 4K Equipment. It was important for Magnanimous to showcase equipment that was thought to be “intimidating” to filmmakers, to remove the stigma and to continually educate while encouraging filmmakers to pursue what they love.

Vendors and industry professionals both local and regional came to participate in this year’s open house. The list of vendors include: F&V, Flanders Scientific, Raglite, time-lapse professional Eric Hanes, Camera Ribbon, and our NEW aerial drone service.

F&V has heavily invested in applying the advancements of LED technology. F&V worked closely with key LED sources and have been able to quickly and effectively integrate these innovations into all of their products.

Raglite is the first-ever flexible LED lighting system for consumers and professionals. Raglite was created out of the need for flexible lighting for a workout video. Their production team needed something flexible, versatile, and strong enough to light a scene without much space. Today, Raglite is currently running a Kickstarter to help with the official launch.

Flanders Scientific offers high-quality professional equipment to the broadcast and post-production industries. The quality of these monitors is truly remarkable: they’re lightweight, have a great range of size, and have smooth functionality. We’re fans!

Camera Ribbon is an effectively simple one-piece design that takes the strain off a cameraman’s wrists, hands, and back. Its counterbalanced and padded shoulder support/handle create more stable images without shake and jitter. The end result is far less fatigue, especially on those long handheld shoots.

Magnanimous 2.0 is rolling out a number of new products and surprises in the New Year. Those who attended the open house received a small insider look on what’s coming up! One of the additions to the line up is our new aerial drone service. Quadcopter and DJI S1000. Quadcopter Service is $325 an hour; includes Aerial Drone, GoPro Hero 3 or Hero 4, and Operator. DJI S1000 Service is $650 an hour and includes the Aerial Drone, Panasonic GH3 or GH4, and an Operator.

Another new addition to the lineup is Magnanimous Media’s new Production Space, where the open house took place! The new production pace is currently available from 10am-10pm every day of the week. The space can be rented for $25/hour or $250 for a 12-hour day! The space is bare, untreated, and does not include any additional equipment. It truly is perfect for music videos with large groups, for dance videos, or for building a set in a tremendous area.
